2008 Courses
Level I Avalanche Course:

March 12, 13, 15 & 16, 2008 

(March 12 & 13 - 6:00pm-10:00pm at Nederland Fire)

(March 15 & 16 - 7:30am-5:00pm at Eldora)

Price: $220                           
This is a stand alone course designed to introduce the recreational back-country user to basic hazard management through planning and preparation for travel in avalanche terrain.  This course also introduces students to  recognize human factors, select and manage appropriate terrain, make red flag observations, use safe travel techniques, and perform basic avalanche rescue.  This class is 2 weekday evenings and 2 full weekend days.
 
Level II Avalanche Course:  
March 6, 7, 8 & 9, 2008
Price: $375
This course is designed for the advanced backcountry team leader or as an introduction to standardized documentation of snowpack observations as used by professional ski patrollers and guide services.  This class introduces stability analysis, operational risk management, and advanced rescue.  Prerequisites include successful completion of a Level I course and student must meet with Program Director before enrollment.  This class is 4 full days, combination of class and field.
 
Level III Avalanche Course:  
None offered at this time
This course is professional education for ski patrollers and guides.  It is a pass/fail class that evaluates the student's ability to produce operational forecasts, manage complex rescue situations, understanding of current snow science research, snowpack processes, and hazard mitigation.  This class is 6 full days.
