Ignite Adaptive Sports, founded by Eldora Mountain Resort, is an independent nonprofit that operates right here at Eldora Mountain Resort, to provide fun and affordable instruction in alpine and cross-country skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing to people with any cognitive and physical disabilities. Ignite also has a Veterans Program, created to promote a healthy, active lifestyle and encourage a positive outlook on life for wounded or disabled service men and women. Scholarships are available for those that may need financial assistance.
Located by the Little Hawk Family Zone, Ignite Lessons run Thursday to Sunday from January through March. All lessons are private and include specialized equipment, a lift ticket, and a trained instructor. Some lessons may include more than one instructor based on the students’ requirements.
The Ignite program is the combined result of donation generosity that Eldora Mountain Resort and other contributors have provided to Ignite to operate for over 40 years, along with the commitment of volunteers who serve as snowsport instructors, equipment technicians, program managers, schedulers, record-keepers, fundraisers and on the Board of Directors.
If people with disabilities choose to come to Eldora outside of Ignite’s Thursday – Sunday schedule, Ignite can usually accomodate those individuals. Advance bookings are encouraged.
