Friday, January  23, 2026 | Upstairs Indian Peaks Lodge

Join Mammut and the American Avalanche Institute for an afternoon of activities, education, giveaways, and free food (while supplies last).

Event Schedule

1:00 - 3:00 PM: Avalanche Beacon Time Trials

• Test your ability to find a buried beacon in the snow using the Barryvox, Mammut's intuitive transceiver for faster and easier searches. Compete against yourself and others for a chance to win avalanche safety gear from Mammut.
• A demo beacon, shovel, and probe will be available for the beacon challenges. The challenge will take place just behind the Subie Shack, near Indian Peaks Lodge.

3:00 - 4:00 PM: Avalanche Rescue Fundamentals

• Join the American Avalanche Institute (AAI) for a special session on backcountry education. This talk is designed as an introduction to the world of snow and avalanches or as a refresher for the beginning of the season. This experience is great for folks new to backcountry travel, as well as folks who have been doing it for a while.
• There will be door prizes provided by Mammut and free food while supplies last.
